By Mead Gruver and Jonathan J. Cooper | Associated PressMitt Romney’s announcement this week that he will not seek another term in the U.S. Senate came with a distant echo of his father’s departure from politics five decades ago.Mitt and his father, George Romney, at one time were top Republican contenders for the presidency, but fell short of the White House. In following a path forged by his father, sometimes with eerie similarities, Mitt Romney became the latest in a line of prominent establishment Republicans who pushed back against Donald Trump’s vision for the party, only to become isolated. ...

The team is planning to move to Las Vegas, which would leave Oakland without a professional team. “I think the fans and everybody else should enjoy it while it’s here and hopefully it’s here a little bit longer than everybody thinks,” Melvin said, sitting in the visiting dugout during his first time back at the Coliseum in nearly two years. The Golden State Warriors moved across the bay to San Francisco in 2019, then the Oakland Raiders relocated to Las Vegas the next year.Melvi...
